2020 New Year’s message from the Chairman!

2019 was an extraordinary year for DANCHAM as we started off the year with a new homepage with online ticket sale for events to simplify the registration process and to help our members understand who will participate the upcoming events. It came to good use for the various events we provided in 2019 to enhance our members network and understanding of doing business in Malaysia

Looking back on the year 2019 with MDBC

Among other things, we organised a festive and Danish traditional Fastelavn celebration for our members’ families and their enthusiastic children who were dressed up in fancy and creative costumes.

The inspiring Business Breakfast Briefing (BBB) with Board Director Datin Norrizan enlightened us on Malaysian customs and business etiquettes.

Following the BBB, we got a good understanding of how the Malaysian government landed on their feet after Pakatan Harapan came into power. The BBB was facilitated by the very well-connected Mr. Yin Shao Loong.

We invited our members for the annual and very popular company excursion to visit United Plantations at Perak for a half day event where we had a guided tour around the production and the plantation.

In November we hosted a Nordic InterChamber dinner and cocktail event with Professor Yeah Kim Leng on the 2020 Budget.

Together with EUMCCI there were many offerings for our members, not the least the fabulous gala dinner and Europa Awards for Sustainability, to highlight just one.

2020 outlook

  • We will kickstart 2020’s calendar of events with Carlsberg’s “Probably the Best Brewery Tour” on January 16th to welcome back all of you and raise a toast to the new year, so we look forward to your participation. This event is free of charge and you are welcome to bring a guest. REGISTER HERE
  • We will celebrate Fastelavn once again on 23rd February
  • … and will hold a Novo Nordisk event towards the end of Q1
  • We will soon firm up the calendar for the rest of the year and we are also working on a promising project in collaboration with Danish chambers across Asia and Asia House in Denmark to explore the opportunity for establishing an alliance of chambers across the region.

To all our members, thank you for the wonderful year together and your continuous support.  We look forward to sharing a memorable 2020 with you. On behalf of the MDBC Board of Directors, I wish you a Happy New Year and hope to see you soon!

Allan Jensen, Chairman, DANCHAM
